How should you read a before and after photo?

A hair transplant before and after photo is only useful when you know what you are comparing. Check these four things before drawing conclusions:

  • Lighting and angle: the same light and camera angle in both photos make a fair comparison. Strong overhead light or wet hair can make any scalp look thinner.
  • Time since the procedure: a photo taken at four months shows early growth, not the final result, which usually takes around twelve months.
  • Hair length and styling: longer or styled hair covers more scalp than a short cut.
  • The starting point: each patient’s donor area, hair thickness and pattern of loss shape what is achievable.

Questions about results

When will I see my final hair transplant result?

Most patients see new growth from about three to four months after the procedure and a clear improvement between six and nine months. The final result usually takes around twelve months, and some patients keep improving for a few months after that.

Will my result look like these photos?

Your result depends on your own donor area, hair thickness, hair loss pattern and how closely you follow aftercare. The photos show what was possible for these patients, not a guarantee for yours. Your personalised plan sets realistic expectations for your case.

Is it normal for transplanted hair to fall out after the procedure?

Yes. Most transplanted hairs shed between about two and eight weeks after the procedure, while the follicles stay in place under the skin. New hair starts growing from those follicles in the following months.
